| | VIRTUAL TOYS AT GAMELAB Virtual Toys, has been present at Gamelab participating in two round tables and the presentation of the product. On July 1st, Jesús Iglesias, creative director of Virtual Toys, discussed, at the round table on the “Evolution of videogame’s production model” the production model of the studio and the changes experienced in the more than the 14 years he has been working in the sector. During that afternoon, Fabriciano Bayo, CEO of Virtual Toys, participated in the round table “Venture Capital investment for videogame development”, offering his particular vision on the pros and cons of the entrance of Venture Capital in videogame companies and how these can help and effect their functioning,
On the second day, Jesús Iglesias together with Santiago Cobo, producer, hosted the presentation to the participants of the studio’s latest title: “Spaceball Revolution, reinventing arcade”, a project that will be marketed soon through Nintendo’s on-line distribution channel, WiiWareTM.
Spaceball Revolution is a puzzle arcade, full of innovative concepts which allow the player to enjoy one of the most addictive experiences in recent times. This product was present in beta version at the “WiiWare Media Summit” held at Nintendo’s headquarters last April and was extremely well received, as it was in Gijón. ABOUT GAMELAB Gamelab, the Interactive Leisure International Market Fair, has celebrated its fifth edition, in Gijón (Asturias, Spain), July 1 thru 3. It was inaugurated by the Minister of Culture, Ángeles González Sinde, who defended videogames as a culture, equaling their value to that of cinema or fine arts, considering them as an art gaining importance day by day. She also demonstrated her commitment to strengthen the national videogame industry, by boosting public financing and the private sector support. Together with the important representation of the main players in the national videogame sector there were leading international exectutives of the industry, such as Ian Livingston (EIDOS), Chris Hecker (Spore), Bryan Neide (Director General de EA Games), Chulki Choi from NHN Corporation or Richard Owens, Director of the Copyright E-Commerce, Technology and Management Division of the World Intellectual Property Organization… who offered their point of view of the actual interactive leisure situation through a series of debates and conferences
