 For the first time a videogame company comes in as finalist in the prestigious Principe Felipe award for entrepreneurial Excellence in the Information Society. This distinction acknowledges  the videogame industry's potential within the digital content sector.

The Principe Felipe Awards represent the highest distinction bestowed to companies that compose the Spanish entrepreneurial fabric and recognise the efforts made in the advancement of its competitiveness.

 Madrid-based studio Virtual Toys was founded in 1995, at a national level it was the first to create a videogame about a film, the film being "Torrente" and continuing the saga, an on-line version that allows the user to play at no cost. "Torrente On-Line" was launched in september 2006 on the "free2play" model and was a pioneer in Spain. This experience has created a community of over half a million users who with the new film version of "Torrente" will have the chance to see their videogame renewed.

Gamelab, the most distinguished event in the Spanish Videogame Industry, gransts Virtual Toys  the Best Art Award

 During the last Gamelab, Interactive Leisure International Trade Fair, Virtual Toys has received the Best Art Award, for its videogame Yummy Yummy Cooking Jam.

 The jury, formed by sector specialists, valued the fun graphic concept of the game, colorful and very well adapted to the genre and target audience. For this reason they chose the Spanish studio’s product for the Best Art Award.

 Fabriciano Bayo, CEO of Virtual Toys, received the prize. “When we developed Yummy Yummy, one of our main goals was to make a game graphically impressive and attractive, based on the type of player we targeted. It’s a great pleasure that Yummy Yummy’s artistic quality is recognized by specialists, this means we have achieved our first goal”.

 For the second year in a row, the studio from Madrid has been award winnner at the sector’s main trade fair, giving them great expectations for their next launchings, such as the arcade, “Spaceball Revolution”, presented for the first time to the audience at Gamelab.

The ceremony, hosted by the actor and comedian Javier Veiga and hostess Mª José Suárez, counted with the presence of the most relevant people in the sector, all of them participants at Gamelab

 During the latest GameLab, Virtual Toys was given two important awards: Best Spanish Studio in 2007 and Best Nintendo DS Product, for the game HorseZ.

 Held on 10-11 July 2008, the 4th edition of Gamelab, International Encounters for the Electronic Entertainment Industry, took place in Gijón, Spain. The Principality of Asturias hosted the annual event, providing two intense days filled with novelties and content of interest to all.

 In 2007, over 60 Spanish companies presented 130 game titles, some with significant international sales. Virtual Toys is included in the latter group, having sold more than four million copies of its games "HorseZ", "Imagine: Fashion Designer" and "Imagine: Veterinarian" for the Nintendo DS.

 These international successes have led the jury for the Gamelab awards, composed of prestigious professionals in the Spanish video game sector, to award the Madrid studio two important accolades: Best Game of the Year for Nintendo DS, with "HorseZ", and Best Spanish Studio of 2007. Virtual Toys directors thanked the Gamelab organisation for this recognition during the closing ceremony of the competition, held at the Gijón Casino. Other awards for the best games for PC, mobile, online, console and specialised publication media were also given out at this competition.

 Founded in 1995 and located in Torrejón de Ardoz (Madrid), Virtual Toys is an independent producer dedicated to video game development. The studio has extensive production experience for the different console types, being the official developer for ALL the platforms currently in use. It has development studios in Madrid, Barcelona and Castellón.

 The Virtual Toys team has developed products of all genres, among which are over 40 titles for consoles and PC. In addition, the studio has achieved the leading position for the Nintendo DS console over all other development studios. At present, games such as "HorseZ" and "Imagine Being a Fashion Designer" have converted it into a world-wide reference company.

 The video game industry has a current turnover greater than cinema, DVD and music together, with Spanish companies triumphing throughout the world. In 2007, the industry registered a 50% growth in Spain, rising from 967 million euros in 2006 to 1,454 million euros, while cinemas had a turnover of 644 million for that year.

  In Virtual Toys we are of very proud since we have been awarded with the prize to the best game developing company of the year in the Campus Party.
